Get To Know Me

Georgian Bay - Born and Raised.

Clare grew up across the bay in Penetanguishene, ON. She completed her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology in 2014 from Wilfird Laurier University. She went on to complete her Master's of Physical Therapy from Western University in 2016 where she graduated as Valedictorian. Clare moved to Owen Sound in 2016 to live with her fiance (now wife) Samantha and hasn't looked back since.

After discovering CrossFit in 2011, Clare realized her passion for fitness and the impact that training principles can have on acute and chronic injury. What started with programming for varsity athletes quickly became the foundation on which the idea for CONNECT was built.

Fast forward a few years to when Clare started working with more and more retired women who were having various hip, knee, and shoulder issues, or were bouncing back from fractured wrists. She started realizing two things, first: that the healthcare system wasn't supporting these women until they already had a major problem with strength, and second: that she could apply her Crossfit knowledge to these groups safely and effectively to cause major improvements in pain, strength, and overall function.

That was the birth of her Barbells4Bones series, and the discovery of one of her favourite patient groups to work with. Today, Barbells4Bones has grown from a single class to seven classes weekly (and counting!), and Clare is continually looking for ways to add more classes to the schedule. Who said retirement meant slowing down?

When she's not at work, Clare can be found working out, hanging out with her wife and daughter, or hiking and biking with their dog, Moose.

I'm always looking for new and exciting opportunities. Let's connect.
